New Job Alert

We are looking for an energetic, passionate and committed go-getter with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, to help us activate projects and networks that will work towards ensuring everyone in South Kaipara has access to good food.

This role has come from an extensive community consultation where we asked people what good food means to them and what are the barriers to accessing it.

It is the next step in our community’s response to addressing the complex and underlying causes of food insecurity, following the creation of the Kai Collective Te Awaroa. The foodbank was set up during the first Auckland Level 4 lockdown in early 2020 and continues to play a vital role providing emergency food to those in need, under the newly formed South Kaipara Good Food Trust (https://skgf.org.nz/programs/)

While there will always be a need to provide crisis response, our community has told us they want longer-term solutions which might involve community gardens, food co-ops or a central food hub where people can gather, learn, teach and build connections.

We have the vision – are you the person to bring it to life?

You’ll have to have a great heart helping those most marginalised in a mana-enhancing non-judgmental way.  You’ll be just as comfortable chatting with local body politicians as you are with the chap who turns up with his wheelbarrow and an idea for making planter boxes out of old tyres.  You’ll have experience running projects, managing budgets, volunteers and deadlines.

It’s a very special person we’re after, but this is a unique and special community.  We want someone who understands our rurally dispersed South Kaipara community  and can see its strengths and amplify its potential.

This is a contracted role until 30 June 2022 with an expectation of 15 hours per week.
