Open to all in our South Kaipara community, this short course will cover:
• how to set a realistic food budget, meal planning & pantry staples
• eating seasonally and locally
• coupons and loyalty programmes
• food labelling, cheap vs. healthy food choices and waste reduction
• eating out on a budget
Packed with information the course will incorporate practical exercises to get discussion going and reinforce the concepts discussed, inlcuding a batch cooking session in week three. Attendees will be encouraged to share their own tips and tricks, so we can learn from each other. “We’re stronger together”.
A resources sheet with a list of useful websites, books, and other resources for food budgeting and cooking on a budget will be made available too. ‘Food Budgeting Pro’ certificates will be handed out to those that attend all four classes.
